Hope in Him Alone

September 2, 2018
Hope in Him Alone

How is it that in the Presence of God, there is fullness of joy? Because in His Presence, there is light. And Jesus is the “true Light which gives light to every man coming into the world” (John 1:8) “The Light shines on in the darkness and the darkness did not understand it or overpower it or appropriate it or absorb it [and is unreceptive to it].” (John 1:5, AMP)

Though we sit in darkness, the Lord will be our light.

Light overcomes darkness and so when we step into His Presence and when we step into the Light, every nook and cranny of darkness, every spot and blemish, everything that does not belong to God—fear, anxiety, sin, doubt and unbelief—are clearly seen, exposed, and stripped away by Him who continually makes us spotless and blameless and holy and pure as we move from glory to glory to glory.

We sometimes get caught up in the cares of this world and it clouds our vision and chokes our faith. And yet countless expressions of His love will always far exceed our expectations. Look to Him and He will bring to remembrance the countless times that He delivered us from sin and temptation, provided for our needs, and made possible the seemingly impossible.

When we continue to fix our gaze on Him, and put our hope and trust in Him alone, the rest of the things do not matter. The current challenges that we face, the delayed answers to our prayers, the unanswered prayers…they are nothing compared to what God had already prepared for us. All we need to do is to look to Him and run the race. Eyes on the prize because Jesus is the prize.

Matthew 6:33-34 says, “Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things.”

We may be unfaithful but our God is always faithful, His promises never failing. Even in our failure, He continues to remind us of His hope and future for our lives— one that He has already written ever since the foundation of this world. And so we can always hope in Him alone and let him be our full portion.

In Him alone there is freedom. In Him alone there is fullness of joy. In Him alone we hope!
